The Library is more than a place to find your next book or movie. We have fun & unique events and programs which occur throughout the year. Some of these are educational, some are celebratory, and some are about having a great time with people in our community. Check out the list of Special Experiences below and you can also click here to see all upcoming programs and events at the Library.
Train Scavenger Hunt
In celebration of the return of the Train display, we had a train scavenger hunt for children on the second floor. Everyone who participated was entered into a drawing to win a train set and tickets to the Choo-Choo Barn. Congratulations to our winners!
If you want more trains in your life, check out our museum pass for the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania! We have other museum passes as well to provide you with an educational, fun, and free experience. Stop by the second floor of the Library to see our full list of offerings or look at them here in the online catalog.
Enjoy reading and want to keep the book instead of returning it? Then come to one of the Library’s Book Sales! These Book Sales are a great opportunity to find good books and more at an affordable price and help support the Library.
The 2022 Fall Book Sale runs from Tuesday, September 6 to Saturday, September 10. The Book Sale is open during Library hours, except on Friday, when it will remain open until 8PM. The Fall Craft Fair is held in conjunction with the Book Sale on Friday, September 9 and Saturday, September 10.
If you are looking to shop for books, movies & more now, come to the Friend’s of the Library Bookstore. Their bookstore is open during Library hours so that you have the opportunity to buy some entertaining and educational materials while supporting the Library year round! For more information about the Friends of the Library and their bookstore, visit their page here.
Even when shopping online, you can support the Library. By using smile.amazon.com to shop, you receive the same service from Amazon, are not charged anything extra, and they will make a donation to the Library (when you make us your charity of choice) on eligible products.
Annual Craft Fair with a Small Business Flair
We are looking for 2022 Craft Fair Vendors & inviting all Shoppers!
Elizabethtown Public Library is pleased to host local artisans, crafters, and small business vendors annually! The Craft Fair is always a great time to come to the Library, as the Friends Book Sale, Elizabethtown Coffee Company specials, and other programs typically occur during this awesome weekend.
All registration fees support Library services. If you are interested in being a vendor, you can find more information and an application here.
Summer Reading Program
Our 10-Week Summer Reading Program occurs every year with a different theme. It is open to everyone; infants, children, teens, and adults are all encouraged to participate!
This year’s theme was Oceans of Possibilities. We had a thrilling time diving in deep to reading and exploring the wild and wonderful waters and the creatures within them! Every week during the summer we are busy with themed Storytimes, special visitors, programs, and the chance to Touch a Truck! We continue to have educational and entertaining programs throughout the year so check out our Calendar to see all of the possibilities.
Thank you to everyone who participated and congratulations for completing your reading logs! Stay tuned to learn about our new and fun adventures for summer 2023.
